Livingetc published a personalised edit of five L-shaped sofas for a family of four, with listed prices between £1,499 and £1,948. Designer Iokasti highlighted features such as washable covers, modular layouts and spill-resistant fabric, while some care details and delivery costs still need checking.
Livingetc has published a five-sofa shortlist for a reader identified in the feature as Kim, selecting L-shaped designs for a family of four with a stated budget of £1,000 to £2,000. Interior designer Iokasti focused on roomy seating, practical materials and a mix of Scandinavian, mid-century and contemporary styles; the list offers recommendations rather than a reported purchase or independent product test.
The featured options are the Castlery Dawson Wide Chaise Sofa, the Castlery Lena Performance Fabric Chaise Sofa, Sofa Club’s Vienna Luxe Chenille Right Corner Sofa, King Living’s 1977 Modular Sofa with Chaise and Armrests, and Westwing’s Melva three-seat corner sofa in olive green. The supplied report lists prices for three: £1,948 for the Castlery Lena, £1,499 for the Sofa Club Vienna, and £1,899 before delivery for the Westwing Melva.
Iokasti’s comments emphasise features that could suit everyday family use. The Dawson has removable, machine-washable covers and feather-filled cushions, while the King Living 1977 also has removable, machine-washable covers and a modular configuration that can be rearranged. The Lena is described as having spill-resistant performance fabric. These are product descriptions and the designer’s assessments as presented in Livingetc, not test results supplied in the source material.
The shortlist also includes a moveable footstool end on the Sofa Club model and a compact corner arrangement on the Westwing sofa. Iokasti advises checking care instructions and considering a fabric swatch for the light-coloured Vienna; she also flags the Westwing fabric-care details. The source says Sofa Club delivery costs £129, keeping its stated total within the reader’s budget. Delivery charges for the other options are not provided.
How the Shortlist Addresses Family Use
The feature’s value is in linking a design brief to practical household needs rather than presenting a general sofa ranking. A corner or chaise layout can provide seating for several people, while washable covers, spill-resistant fabric and flexible modules may affect how a sofa works in a home with children. Those features are relevant selection points, but suitability depends on the room, the household’s routines and the precise care instructions for each model.
Budget comparisons also require attention to the full purchase cost. The listed prices for the Lena and Westwing Melva leave little or no information about delivery, and the Westwing price is explicitly before delivery. Buyers comparing options should confirm current prices, dimensions, availability and delivery fees with the retailer before making a decision.

A Personalised Design Brief
The article is presented as a direct response to a reader’s request, not as a market-wide survey. The brief asks for spacious L-shaped sofas for four people, within a £1,000 to £2,000 range, combining Scandinavian simplicity, mid-century character and modern design. Iokasti’s selection reflects that mix through curved, low-profile and clean-lined designs, alongside neutral and olive-green upholstery.
Livingetc also points readers to Style, a room-design service from Design Lab By Livingetc. The feature describes a 45-minute one-to-one call followed by a moodboard, product recommendations and a design direction. It does not say that the sofa shortlist itself was produced through that paid or separate service, nor does the source provide details of the service’s price.
““With family life in mind, I’ve focused on spacious, comfortable options that give all four of you room to relax.””
— Iokasti, the designer writing the Livingetc feature

Prices and Care Details to Verify
The source does not specify when the feature was published, whether the listed prices remain current, or whether every sofa is available for delivery. Prices are supplied for only three of the five selections. While the Sofa Club delivery fee is given as £129, delivery costs for the other models are not stated; the Westwing price is before delivery.
The report also does not provide sofa dimensions for most models, fabric-care specifications for every option, or independent assessments of durability and spill resistance. The Castlery Lena is described as designed to resist spills, but the source gives no test method or performance rating. Readers would need to confirm specifications, total costs and suitability directly with the retailers.

Check Details Before Ordering
Livingetc’s feature invites the reader to identify which designs stand out, but the source does not report a final choice or purchase. The practical next step for shoppers is to compare the full measurements with their room, request fabric samples where available, read care guidance and ask each retailer for current stock, delivery costs and lead times.
Anyone seeking more help with a room can review the Style service described in the article: a 45-minute consultation followed by a moodboard and tailored product recommendations. The feature does not state whether the reader will use that service or what happened after the shortlist was published.
