Apartment Therapy published a shopping report seeking IKEA PAX alternatives priced below $200. The supplied source details two options—BOAXEL at $150 and GURSKEN at $130—not the eight alternatives promised by the headline, and says prices were accurate when the article was published.

Apartment Therapy has published a shopping report on IKEA PAX alternatives under $200, naming two IKEA storage options in the supplied source: the $150 BOAXEL wardrobe combination and the $130 GURSKEN wardrobe. The report is aimed at shoppers seeking less expensive closet organization, though the source material provided here does not substantiate the headline’s promise of eight alternatives.

The BOAXEL combination is a wall-mounted storage system described as 24 inches wide. Apartment Therapy says it comes with a hanging rod, upper shelf, two lower shelves and two metal mesh drawers. The listed price is $150 at IKEA, placing it below the report’s stated $200 limit.

The second item, the GURSKEN wardrobe, is listed at $130 at IKEA. Apartment Therapy characterizes it as a tall, narrow unit with concealed storage, a matte beige finish and contrasting knobs, and suggests it may suit spaces without a built-in closet. Those descriptions and suitability judgments are the publication’s, rather than independently verified product assessments.

Apartment Therapy says it independently selects products and may earn a commission when readers buy through its links. It also says prices were accurate at the time of publication. The supplied material contains no product measurements beyond BOAXEL’s width, no current stock information, and no details on delivery, assembly, or additional costs.

Lower-Cost Storage Choices

For renters or homeowners trying to organize a wardrobe on a limited budget, the two listed products offer different formats below $200: BOAXEL is an open, wall-mounted arrangement, while GURSKEN is a freestanding wardrobe with doors. That distinction can matter when a room has no built-in closet, when shoppers want to see stored items, or when they prefer belongings out of view.

The report’s price ceiling is useful as a starting point, not a complete estimate of a finished closet project. A buyer may need additional shelves, containers, tools, delivery or help with installation, depending on the space and product. Since the supplied source does not give a full cost breakdown or installation guidance, shoppers should check the current product listing and requirements before buying.

PAX Customization and Trade-Offs

Apartment Therapy presents PAX as a popular IKEA wardrobe system because it can be customized with add-ons or altered by shoppers. The article says, however, that customizing and assembling PAX can feel intimidating and that parts are often out of stock. These are statements in the original report; the supplied source does not provide stock data or customer survey figures.

The alternatives highlighted here are both from IKEA, rather than competing brands. BOAXEL offers a more open arrangement of shelves, drawers and a rail, while GURSKEN is a single wardrobe with concealed storage. The source presents them as lower-priced possibilities for different needs, but does not establish that either offers the same range of customization as PAX.

Prices, Stock and Missing Picks

The supplied source does not include six of the eight products implied by its headline, so it is not possible to report a complete list from this material. It is also unclear whether the original article includes other picks beyond the two reproduced here. The exact publication date is not supplied; the source describes the story as published about four hours before capture.

Current prices, inventory and product specifications have not been independently confirmed. The article’s stated prices reflect the time of publication, and the source does not say whether taxes, delivery, installation or other purchases are included. Readers should check IKEA’s current listings for those details.

Check Listings Before Buying

Shoppers considering either option can compare the current IKEA listings with their available wall or floor space, storage needs and budget. For BOAXEL, the wall-mounted format means buyers should review the product’s installation requirements and confirm that the intended wall can support the setup. For GURSKEN, they should confirm dimensions and delivery arrangements before purchase.

No future announcement or update is identified in the supplied source. Further details about the other alternatives in the headline, if included in the full report, would be needed to compare all eight options or assess their total costs.
